Tawa Off Road Riders Club

Tawa, Wellington, New Zealand

Hey everybody, just got back from a meeting with the boys at the council.
Looks like we will be able to do some trail building up the back of the old Kiwi cres track which is good news!
As much as some of you guys would love to crack on with a new trail, Thomas & Steve (WCC) see the completion of the Jump track as our top prority. I am with them on that one as its all a bit ragged down there & it would be good to tidy the place up and get things finished off!
This will include building the dirt jump line as well as some skills area structures.
This will mean having a few Saturday dig days, so keep an eye out for it as I need to get a few things organised so we can crack on.

Good stuff, just needs to stop raining! Can we also change the last 3 doubles? The berm doesn't put you onto the right line and I haven't seen anyone clear the first 2.

i agree the doubles do need some work

Man have you guys been down to the track lately?

Seen the massive jumps?

Hugh & a few of his mates (who are top dirt jumpers) have been shaping up some rather large DJ's.
Go and have a look, I dare you to have a go!!

The council are keen to ship in more dirt to make a scaled down version running in parallel.

Hugh was lookin to be down at the track over the weekend, weather permitting, to put some finishing touches on the jumps. He could use a hand to move some earth.
So if your around, head down to the track with a shovel & wheel barrow & give him a hand!!

i know there huge but that smaller line sounds doable but i'd only consider the big ones if we got some bed matrices in between for a bouncy landing when you have to ditch

aaaaaaaaaaahhhhhh??????????? I hate to rain on everybody's parade, but the guys building the dj's had a pit bike today and were tearing up every thing and leaving huge ruts all through the wet clay, meaning it'll probably harden like that and to make matters whose he wasn't even wearing a helmet!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I will be out there today to check out any damage. if anything has been messed up it will be the end of the road for people causing that damage.

What happened to the lips on the two tabletops? A few of us had made a lip to make the jumps more jumpbable and one has been flattened which is disappointing.

Due to the weather being so crap are the council able to let us start buidling trails up above the kiwi cres track? This weather is far better suited to trail building/riding than a bmx track.

I agree with you there. Wasn't the track supposed to be limed or something? The whole thing seems to just be slow and tacky with only the first few jumps being any good to ride.

Dont be building up lips on the track, the council is not to fond of that, so save it for the new jump lines!!
The council are going to be putting a lime surface on, but unfortunately the have run out of money for this year & will do it next year.

I have been talking to the Porirua City Council about building up above Kiwi as they own part of the land up there, & so far so good. Will keep you guys updated.

Also some awsome news... We have finally received the grant from the Tawa Community Board!!

cool good to hear that we are getting somewhere
what would the grant money be used for because i think we should buy some wood or somting to go up this new kiwi and build some more structures. and hopefully we can put the old ones backup somewhere else up there.
