Tawa Off Road Riders Club

Tawa, Wellington, New Zealand

Hey guys & gals....

Take a look at the pics I have uploaded for a 3D model of the wooden structures design.
Let me know what you think & of any ideas you may have.

The course goes like this...
Start with step up jump/ramp onto swing bridge, corner, straight, step down, corner to Seesaw, corner to wave section, more corners onto narrow/super narrow bridge, climb upto platform for ramp off/narrow drop off/drop onto lower platform. Finish.

the corner after the wave section i think that it would be cool if it was banked slightly so you could ride it like a berm

Will be a challange to build, but I like it!

Would there be any benefit to making it a complete figure-eight with on and off ramps? Could open the possibilities for "pursuit" style events i.e. each rider starts on opposite sides and tries to catch the other.

I like that idea, will add something in.

Put the on/off ramps at opposite ends so they can be start points - e.g. start on the flat, up the ramp and onto the structure.

Any idea about dimensions (i.e how high and how wide)

making it a complete figure 8 sounds like a good idea

It's all modeled with a 600mm wide platform, with most of it at 500mm off the ground. the top of the wave section is 1m above ground and so is the drop off platform. I will be building some test stuff to check that its ridable. Sizes will probably change depending on what works & what is cheaper to build.

Check out Skill9 pic for full figure 8 design. Will look at banking a couple of corners after the wave section, but a little tricky to do in 3D in a short time.....

its starting to look good and the figure of 8 idea is good. and also what program are you using to do the design

I'm using a Lighting design program that I use at work called Dialux. Its a free download.

looks pretty cool also do u think we could make some structures like the ones at kapiti mtb park

There's a bit of kapiti in this design as well as some makara as well. Kapiti are lucky as they can do what they want, where as we are restricted by WCC to sticking with the building code, so we cant do some of the things they do at kapiti :-(
